Project Co-Founders

Greta and Taylor’s story together began in January 2022 when they bonded as homesick Appalachian expats. With their shared love for the history and culture of Appalachia and a desire to do good work for the underserved region, they founded the Appalachian Preservation Project.

  • Greta is a historian with an interest in the storied history of Appalachia and its people.

    Recognizing the egregious ways in which Appalachia is portrayed in popular media, Greta hopes to educate people on how beautiful and complex the people of Appalachia actually are.

  • Taylor is a digital storyteller with 8 years of experience in journalism, community organizing, editorial leadership, and non-profit communications.

    She is a lomographer, musician, printmaker, and art collector.

    With a passion for arts & culture, Taylor most enjoys spending her time connecting with other artists and telling their stories.

  • Forrest Jenkins

    NORTH MISSISSIPPI CONTRIBUTOR

    Forrest Jenkins escaped the practice of law after a brief career in public service. She now writes for joy, teaches yoga for sanity, and works for money as a housing expert in North Mississippi. She loves live music, sharing homegrown foods from her garden, and exploring the Deep South outdoors on horseback, on foot, or by kayak.

  • Daniel Selsvik

    NEUROPSYCH RESEARCHER

    Daniel is a North Alabama native with hopes of becoming a Clinical Neuropsychologist. Having a passion for neurorehabilitation, he recognizes the need for these services in low income communities. Daniel is committed to the research and reporting of mental health services among these communities as he works towards his degree.

  • Rebecca Hinkle

    STATELINE STORYTELLER

    Rebecca was born and raised in Mercer County, West Virginia. She is a writer with a passion for storytelling and unique individuals. Rebecca currently lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Rebecca enjoys hiking, reading, writing, and spending time with family in her free time.
